Crawfish and the Oil Spill

The current crisis in the gulf clearly has the potential to have far reaching effects both in our local economy and the seafood industry but we don’t expect it to have any effect on the production of farm raised crawfish in our area. All Louisiana crawfish including wild production grow in fresh inland waters. We expect normal production. Rain fall and local weather patterns always play a large role in our ability to produce consistent crops including crawfish but conditions in the gulf  will not effect current or future production.

What effects this crisis might have on the economy and costs of production are an entirely different question. It is to early to speculate on those issues at this time. At this time we watch, hope and pray for a quick and effective solution to a the problem.
