Shop Crawfish
We are located on our farm in Branch, Louisiana, right in the heart of Cajun Country. We’re located in a central part of the state, and near the center of the south. We can ship live and delicious crawfish right to your front door.
Complete direction are included in every shipment. Find them in the pouch behind the shipping label. You can also print out the directions here. It’s easier than you would think. Click here to view our page on how to eat crawfish.
Like anything else, it’s all relative. At the beginning of the season, the crawfish will be smaller since they are still growing. As the season progresses, so will the size of the crawfish.
Guaranteed. We take our live crawfish guarantee very seriously. Call us immediately once your crawfish arive if you run into any problems at all. We need to know if something went wrong so that we can prevent any issues for other customers in the future. But that being said, it is a live product and a 10% loss is not unheard of. We rarely have that issue, but it could happen if the weather gets too cold or too hot. We take every precaution to make sure all arrive safely.
It is very easy. Keep in mind that they are a live animal. The gel ice in the ice chest creates oxygen, but only enough for the overnight trip. As soon as you can, and if you do nothing else, open that ice chest and give them oxygen. You can throw away the burlap sack that came in the ice chest as well as the gel ice. Remove the seasoning and put aside. Place an UNOPENED bag of ice on top (the same that you find in a grocery store). The unopened bag of ice will allow a cool mist over the crawfish without water accumulating around the crawfish. The lid of the ice chest will not close and this is fine because they need the oxygen. Store out of sun, preferably on a porch or in a garage until you are ready to cook. Once you are ready to cook dump in strainer. Rinse until the water runs clear. Place strainer in boiling water with our special seasoning.
No, they will be delivered direct to your door. Our crawfish are shipped in specially designed containers meant to keep them alive during the trip to your home or business. Live crawfish are better and taste better once boiled.
Spice is included free in every live crawfish shipment. You can add more to your order, but there is plenty to season your pot, because we increase the amount of seasoning dependant on how many pounds of crawfish you order.
Have Mike show you how to peel in this video. Mike Frugé is the owner of Cajun Crawfish and Frugé Seafood, a seafood wholesaler. He knows his stuff!
Our crawfish can be cooked on the stove top in very small increments or outside (preferred method) with a large (60 or 80 qt. pot) and a burner. We have step by step instructions that you can find in the Fedex pouch on your ice chest.
There is no legal season, in fact crawfish and Mother Nature determine the season. We start catching sometimes in November, but they are weaker crawfish and will never make the overnight trip. We don’t want to ship you dead crawfish and you don’t want to receive them! In January we start doing test shipments. Once we are secure in knowing they will make the trip, we will announce that we will start shipping. Join our newsletter and be one of the first to know.
The best time to order crawfish is March, April May. The crawfish are hardier and juicier.
Yes, you can. You can put the sack back in the ice chest and put an UNOPENED bag of ice on top (the same that you find in a grocery store). The unopened bag of ice will allow a cool mist over the crawfish without water accumulating around the crawfish. The lid of the ice chest will not close and this is fine because they need the oxygen. Store out of sun, preferably on a porch or in a garage until you are ready to cook. Once you are ready to cook put crawfish in strainer, rinse them real well till water runs clear and dump in pot of boiling water with our special seasoning.
No, you should not submerge crawfish in water once we have shipped them. They can be stressed and may drown. Yes, crawfish can drown, especially in still water. See our instructions for care and handling.
The refrigerator is anti-oxygen. The crawfish will stay cool, but they will die from lack of oxygen.
